Empathy requires bravery
In our darkest moments in life all we want is being understood, loved, and held. We send out this request into the universe hoping that our loved ones will be there for us. When we ask for that unconditional love it comes from this deep desire within ourselves to feel finally better and relieved. We want an end to suffering and pain.
In return, when others have the same request of us it is in our power to decide whether we want to be there for that someone or not.
Unconditional love goes beyond what we expect of someone to do for us in return. It exists within your heart, not in your mind.
When a being - a non-human - is in suffering and pain, we can decide (mind) to look away and feel complacent and detached or we feel (heart) for that creature in need knowing it will get uncomfortable.
Being an empath means you are willing to go beyond what most people are able to endure. You overcome the fear of the uncomfortable feeling and do it for the sake of the other one. It takes lots of bravery and strength to push through ignorance and fear.
You can do it.
Research where your food comes from. See how these animals have only ever lived in pain and suffering and imagine you were in their position.
When we stop inflicting pain on animals, then finally and slowly we can heal as humans. There is no such thing as peace on Earth if the slaughterhouse down the street from your place still breaks the souls and bodies of animals.
Be brave and have empathy please.
